12 Pains of X-MAS

"Whahaha LOL"

submission: 12 Pains of X-MAS
date: December 28, 2009

This seriously made me laugh. Well animated and a lot of lulz.
I think the best part was when the Christmas tree searching guy was revived by his own spirit, but I also lol'd at the part with Sanford and Deimos XD
Very cool, and a late Merry Christmas to you :D
10/10 and 5/5

Author's Response:

Yeah happy late Christmas to you too :D. Glad you liked this. I don't know why, but I just HAD to have a couple random people like Sanford and Deimos appear at the end as the Carolers. And I'm proud of the idea of where the tree guy's spirit temporarily leaves his spirit, melts the ice, and re-enters (therefore, reviving) the body, LOL.

"Boooo"

date: December 27, 2009

I don't know if you made the image yourself, but the artwork was pretty friggen BAD. Filthy and somehow I think the creator didn't put a lot of effort in it.
It also contains adult content, but you didn't make that clear. That combined with the unrelated title makes it too much possible for little kids to view this shit.
I don't know what this does in the MadnessDay 2008 list, because it certainly doesn't belong or deserves to be there.
There was barely animation in it, and you didn't really choose the right animation either.

B

"No effort,..."

submission: B
date: December 13, 2009

...no animation, no music, no artistic input: No stars.
Just a plain white background and a red "B" in the middle.

Things you could and should improve:

- Animation or interactivity, it looks like it's not animated at all right now, and i believe a decent flash should have at least some proper animation. Another option would be some click-through options, to make it more interactive.

- Music or sounds, because most people, including me, don't like to watch something covered in complete silence. Maybe some splendid animations could compensate the lack of sound, but unfortunately, as stated before, you didn't at all.

- More art, because you just used one letter of the alphabet here. There are many more letters you could use or other characters and objects you could draw. Also there is a tremendous amount of colors, and apparently you decided to use just two.
Your background isn't too inspired or inspiring either; a plain white plane. you could have made a nice setting for your letter to be displayed, but you didn't and I don't like it.

To earn stars from me you should at least have put some effort in it, and to me it doesn't show like you did at all.
So 0/10 and 0/5

Newgrounds Shoop RPG

"Boring Game"

date: December 10, 2009

Completed it though.

Points to improve;

- Faster attacks; it took me a lifetime to complete this game.

- Expanded tutorial; let the players know what to expect in the next round (like the health from the enemy and how powerful they strike, because I didn't know what to expect and I spent all my points getting potions I didn't need after all because Rick Astley had just one level to beat).

- Make the game more challenging; you can beat Wade and StrawberryClock without using any items from the store, you can beat the NewGrounds tank by using only one extra lazor potion from the store.

Madness Deperaker Collab

"So much for a collab..."

date: December 10, 2009

... when it's made by one dude and his 3 accounts.

Now for the animations. High frame rate, but there was no tension because the actions were all too fast and short with too long pauses in between each other.

That's something ALL THREE of you should work on... lmfao
Next time, put some effort in it or make it look like you did at least.

- collab fail -

"Hank Goes to Hell"

"Good concept"

date: December 10, 2009

Artwork were ok and for both arms you had two different attacks you had to dodge each in a separate way, which was good.

What I don't particularly like is the aiming and shooting. In the beginning you simply aim for the head and hold the mouse button throughout the whole game.
You could have made it more challenging by adding ammo packages and reloads when your magazine is empty.

Also; the death effect. The demon just goes berserk twisting is head around insanely, but I would have preferred a more violent death effect, or at least something that sustains the "Hank dies. He goes to Hell. Help him get back."-part that's more animated than this.

Good concept, but too many loose ends and points for improvement for a higher score I'm giving you.
But I hope to see a new game from you again next year :D

submission: Madness Combat 5.5
date: November 20, 2009

Cool music, cool characters and cool movie :D
I like it a lot; it's a nearly seamless filling the gap between MC 5 and MC 6.
I really loved to see them working together and it was seriously worth the waiting.
Yet I think it's a little short, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Can't wait to see the next one :D

10/10 and 5/5 of course

I've been waiting for it quite a while and I think that what you have so far is epic.
You said in an older post on your userpage that you dropped the project, but I hope you'll pick it up again because this is truely amazing.
I lol'd several times :P

Madness Accelerant

"Best Madness Game Ever"

submission: Madness Accelerant
date: October 2, 2009

I was suprised how many details from Consternation you guys managed to put into this game, I hope you will do it with some other episodes like Depredation as well.

I guess I played every version of the game and I have to say that every upgrade was an improvement. I really like the mouse aim option, without that I probably wouldn't have finished Madness Mode yet.

I liked the new weapon pickup system as well, because I really hated the waiting for other weapons to fade away before I could use the door safely.
The normal mode is a pretty easy one if you know what to do, still it might be challenging if you play the game for the first time.

Madness Mode was surprisingly hard, but to me it was just "losing more hit points" untill I got to the final battle. That part really costs me one life anytime I get there (four times now I guess).
A nice Madness Mode add-on is also that your enemies can re-pickup weapons, so you have to try to keep them away from the weapons.

Some (possible) glitches:
1. In hard mode, two out of four times, after killing some enemies no new ones entered the playing area. After beating the remaining dozens of hit points from Tricky away, they died outside the playing area; I could tell from a grenade launcher entering the corner of my screen.
Also at the first battle with tricky I had this problem once, and after killing the enemies at the first doors I had to walk back to kill one enemy.
2. Last glitch was the sound from the chainsaw; it continued making noise while battling Tricky in the vent room, although I dropped the chainsaw in the "Face Rape"-room already.

Best part of the game: Tricky's "meow"; it never gets old.

5/5 and 10/10

Madness Vengeance

"Quite good"

submission: Madness Vengeance
date: September 25, 2009

But there are some points you should improve on.

First of all, the name. It's called "Madness Vengence" is your submission's name, you spell it like "Madness Vengance" in your movie, but the correct spelling would be "Madness Vengeance". I don't want to sound like a dick, but come on, it ís the main title and I think that at least that one should be spelled correctly.

Second of all, your drawing style. You colored everything nicely, and drew all your sprites and stuff yourself, which I think is good. But I personally believe that it would have looked better with some thicker lines, but that could just be me.
Also, it looked like you had been a bit lazy with drawing hands, since your characters almost always had the three fingered hand no matter what they were doing. Even if they were holding a rifle they held it with two the same hands at the same side of the rifle, which looked pretty weird.
I wonder why you positioned the glasses above the horizontal eyeline from the crossface, but considering people don't have to put their sunglasses in front of their eyes all the time , it doesn't matter that much.
To end with the negative stuff I should say that most of your guns didn't look too realistic as well. So I would recommend that you draw them from example next time.

I still think it's a good movie though, the storyline, interrogation scene and the triple camera shots, so don't forget about that.
I'm just saying it could have been better.
But I definately hope to see more from you in the future ;D

September 25, 2009

Author's Response:

Thanks for the heads up. Its weird though because I remember spell checking that and everything, and nothing said it was wrong.. I guess its another one of those words..

for some reason, I wanted each outline to only be 2 pixels wide, something about it looked nice to me. Like I wanted it to stand out or something.

I actually thought that is how the animation for the series was done, always having the same look on the hands, unless an original action happens (surrendering and such) then the hands would switch to a full palm. just saying...

I didn't really pay attention to the + on the faces, I stuck the glasses where I would see the eyes if I drew them.
